Preparing for a session.

It’s not about posed shots or perfect settings — it’s about real life. We’ll head to a big shady tree, a favourite walk, or simply somewhere your family feels at home, and capture the fleeting little moments that make love and family what they are. Almost every session is outdoors, in natural light, so your photos feel true, joyful, and worth holding onto.

A young child with light brown hair and fair skin is standing outdoors, drinking from a large beige cup with a straw. The child is wearing a brown and white striped long-sleeve shirt and colorful patterned shorts with pom-pom trim. The background features green grass and a wooden railing.
  • Clothing.

Wear something comfortable — you’ll look your best when you feel relaxed.

Natural, earthy colours and simple patterns often work well outdoors.

Some families like to co-ordinate or match — others don’t. Either way works, so choose what feels like you.

Avoid big logos, very bright neons, and sunglasses, as they can distract in photos.

Empty your pockets (phones, keys, wallets) so nothing bulky shows up in the photos.

  • Kids (and grown-ups too!)

Make sure everyone has had a good snack, drink of water, and rest before the session.

Pack a little snack and water bottle for the kids. No one needs to be hangry.

If your children need comfort items (like a favourite toy or blanket), feel free to bring them along.

  • Before we start.

Arrive a few minutes early so you don’t feel rushed.

Don’t stress if things get a little messy — tantrums, muddy shoes, and silly faces are all part of the story we’re capturing.

If your family loves music and a little dance, let me know your favourite tunes — I can bring a small speaker along to set the mood.

We don’t Photoshop out snot, drool or food from faces. So accept the chaos as it is, or bring some wet wipes!
